Review: HGFC 1/144 - Master Gundam

Review:
This is part 2 of model kit review for the HGFC 1/144 - Master Gundam and Fuunsaiki. This time we'll be talking about the Master Gundam. Let's start with the details. The color scheme is a combination of dark violet and dark blue with a little bit of red. There are also yellow stickers for the wings and shroud. Due to it's dark color, the model required minimum panel lining whih makes the model easier to build.

The model only has the master cloth for it's armament. Attached to it is the Master Gundam's pilot, Master Asia. Even though it only has one armament, it compensates with it's features. There are blades on the feet and claws on the hands. The kit comes with 8 hands. A pair of open palms, kung fu hands, dark fingers, one giant dark fingers and one closed fist to hold the master cloth. The giant hand is attached to the right dark fingers. This is something that even the HGFC 1/144 - Gundam God doesn't even have.

Articulation is great on the Master Gundam. But not as great as the G Gundam. The skirts doesn't move that much which makes it difficult for the model to do a high kick. The wings can move up and down, and can flap a liitle. It's also huge which causes some weight issues. It's actually hard for the model to remain stable while the wings are raised.

The wings are supposed to transform into a shroad and cover the body of the Master Gundam. But instead, you need to remove the wings and attach a separate part for the shroud. Putting the shroud can be quite a challenge at first. The model should be compressed enough in order for the shroud parts to fit in. The left side is adjustable so that a portion of the left arm is sticking out. You will notice there are 2 holes in the middle of the front and back portion of the shroud. At first I thought their nothing more than designs. But you can actually attach one of these holes to a display stand or action base. This allows the Master Gundam to perform it's "Choukyuu Haou Den'eidan" technique.

I had a lot of fun taking pictures of the model. I was able to come up with a lot of different poses. Although it took some effort in positioning the model, especially on the wings. All the parts of the model are secured, except for the hand that holds the Master Cloth. For some reason half of that right hand easily falls off while holding the Master Cloth. But despite it's flaws, the model compensates with it's features. My favorite of all would be the shroud and the huge dark fingers on the right hand.

Overall, Master Gundam is one of my favorite model. I enjoyed building the model and taking pictures of it. It has a lot of features and great articulation. Any gunpla builder would love this model.
